Endorsements

The plans to develop the
St. Lawrence wollastonite deposit have received
strong endorsement from authorities of the
Government of Ontario.
In 2002, the Assistant Deputy Minister of the
Ministry of Northern Development and Mines wrote to
Canadian Wollastonite to outline the Ministry's
endorsement of the company's plans. Some key
highlights from the Ministry's letter include the
following:
  |
The
Ministry acknowledged the tremendous value that is
inherent in a commercially viable wollastonite
deposit, noting |
in
its letter that
“If brought into production, a
wollastonite deposit could make a significant
contribution to both the local and provincial
economies”.
|
  |
The
letter indicated that the Ministry recognizes the
potential economic value of the St. Lawrence
wollastonite deposit, |
observing that it
“will meet all the requirements for
classification as an area of Provincially
Significant Mineral Potential.”
|
  |
The
letter confirmed the Ministry’s strong support for
continuation of Canadian Wollastonite’s efforts to
develop the |
|
deposit, stating
that
“The St. Lawrence wollastonite
deposit is potentially a “world class” deposit, and
we are pleased to see the project move towards
development.” |
In addition to the
endorsement from the Government of Ontario, the
project has also received enthusiastic support from
elected officials and community leaders in both the
City of Kingston and the municipality of Leeds and
the Thousand Islands. As a result of the
considerable progress that has already been made
towards commercialization of the St. Lawrence
wollastonite deposit, there is now growing
recognition of the fact that the project has the
potential to offer an exceptional economic
development success story.
